When you want to learn more about the skill of butchery, why not enlist on our butchery class?
In 1991 Huw's garlic and herb sausages won the Guardian Newspaper's first 'Sausage Quest Competition', and in 1993 we won a rosette for the best range of sausages in the U.K in 'Henrietta Green's Food Lovers' guide to Britain'. Which gives you an idea of the exceptionally high standard here at Rowan Barn.

Butchery Courses in Cornwall
Rowan Barn offer quality Butchery Courses. The barn has an on-site butchery and our courses are carefully designed to give you a step by step guide to the basics of butchery. We offer 2 day weekend courses held throughout the winter months, and are always happy to discuss different dates if required, we can fit the course around any special requirements you may have.
During the course you will cut up a half pig into primal cuts, and will learn to score and tie the joints.
Usually on the second day we will teach you how to cure various cuts (Gammon & Bacon) and make sausages that will then be linked in natural casings!
We are able to teach you to cut Lamb or Beef, and could teach you with your own stock!
We provide hands on courses with up to four students per course, and we provided you with protective clothing.
